Keeping Cool

Sunday, July 15th, 2012

One of the things I love about summer is having picnics. There’s something delightful about homemade sandwiches or cold roast chicken, fresh fruit and sparkling water out under a tree, by the river or in a park. But, in case you hadn’t noticed, it’s been hot this summer. Damn hot, actually. And if being stretched out on a blanket with your sweetie is romantic, being sweaty and miserable isn’t.

Instead, bring it back inside. Spread the blanket out on your livingroom floor. Turn on the a.c. or the fan. Play some music without worrying about disturbing anyone. Go on and feed each other grapes. Make it clothing optional if you want. You won’t shock any parents with small children. It can be romantic. It can be sensual. And if it leads somewhere, that’s okay, too. Again, no kids to shock. Make the most of your summer picnic ~ and remember it come winter, too!
